The McCoy Federal Building renovation included improved sustainability, accessibility and security features to the main building; and an entirely new and modernized security entrance. The curved pavilion was inspired by the flow of the Mississippi River, the façades are in white aluminum ribbons and in front of this, the aluminum ribbons support fritted glass shingles that are suspended free of the façade. The building opened in 2013 and achieved LEED® Silver certification.
